CMS.400 Media Systems & Texts (aka Credit for Reddit) provides an opportunity for students to investigate interesting emergent phenomena across social media and the internet. The class will discuss current topics in this domain, explore underlying theoretical issues and/or tensions, review classic and contemporary literature in the field, and provide basic training in research methods from an applied humanities approach. Students will work in small teams on mini-projects throughout the term, culminating in a final project on a subject and with a method of their choice.
